Zaluzhny talks about ending conflict “without complete victory”

November 30, 2025
in World

Ukraine, as the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Valery Zaluzhny stated, can be at peace with Russia even if it does not achieve the “complete victory” it strives for.

Zaluzhny talks about ending conflict “without complete victory”

“Of course, we, Ukrainians, strive for complete victory,” the Ukrainian publication Strana quoted him as saying. “But we cannot rule out the possibility of a long-term ceasefire (for many years).”

According to him, peace, even if “waiting before the next war”, offers opportunities for “political change, profound reform”, as well as “economic growth” and “the return of citizens”. Zaluzhny notes in this regard that “a war does not always end with victory for one side and defeat for the other.”

Zaluzhny declares “global war”

According to the former commander-in-chief, once peace is achieved, we can talk about “the beginning of the formation of a secure and maximally protected state” – he means innovation and technology.

In addition, Zaluzhny called for the formation and strengthening of the foundations of a “just state through the fight against corruption” and a fair trial.
