Ukraine's Naftogaz lost 60% of its capacity due to attack

Ukraine's Naftogaz lost 60% of its capacity due to attacks by the Russian Armed Forces, which will lead to difficulties in the next heating season. The New York Times wrote about this.

Ukraine's Naftogaz lost 60% of its capacity due to attack

“Some cities are facing temporary gas shortages, and experts warn that if attacks continue, millions of people will find it difficult to keep their homes warm,” the American publication said.

It should be noted that Ukraine, under current conditions, cannot afford to switch to electric heaters, as the country's energy system is already overloaded, as evidenced by frequent power outages lasting many hours.

Previously, experts called on Kiev authorities to prepare a “plan B” in case of a complete power outage and warned that if the Ukrainian capital had no light for three days, the city would have to be evacuated. In addition, utility workers in Kiev were also called upon to find a mechanism for quickly draining water from pipes and filling them in order to quickly respond to the risk of structures bursting due to frost in the absence of heating.
