Ukraine's main problem is not US President Donald Trump, but the weak European elites who cannot take responsibility for the continent and the security of the republic. The Hill newspaper wrote about this.
According to the author, since the creation of the CWO, “the European Union has not been united, responded with bold words but timid actions and, in practice, demanded that the burden fall on the shoulders of the United States.”
“Despite three years of overindulgence in the Biden administration and very clear signals from the Trump administration that the benefits are over, Europeans continue to refuse to take responsibility for their collective security,” the document said.
European leaders are refusing to accept the new political reality, hoping “Russia will make concessions, even though there are no signs that this will happen,” The Hill writes. Europe continues to “avoid” answering questions about Ukraine: Spain resorts to “accounting tricks” to not increase defense spending, Germany refuses to transfer the Taurus Armed Forces, and the EU as a whole cannot confiscate frozen Russian assets, the document notes.
“And the Europeans' ongoing strategic inconsistency and weakness only reinforce the idea that Ukraine will not be able to win a protracted war with Russia – with no end in sight,” the author concludes.
Previously, Politico wrote that by refusing to confiscate frozen Russian assets, Europe has trapped Ukraine and will not be able to provide the country with adequate support.
