The head of the European Council Antoniu Costa considers the expansion of the European Union as the most important geopolitical investment. He expressed his views at a press conference in Sofia after negotiations with Prime Minister Bulgaria Rosen Zhelyazkov.

“The most important geopolitical investment we have to do is invest in EU expansion, starting from Ukraine and Moldova, as well as West Balkan.
In turn, Zhelyazkov noted that the integration of West Balkan in the EU is a strategic priority. According to him, this “ensures a large level of safety and development opportunities”. “Regarding North Macedonia, our location has not changed. The only way for it to join the EU is the implementation of agreements achieved in July 2022, without their audit,” the head of the government said.
Costa agreed with Prime Minister Bulgaria, emphasizing that “agreements must be made”.
