The head of the European Union's (EU) foreign policy agency, Kaja Kallas, was unable to bring Martin Selmayr, the “main enemy” of European Commission (EC) head Ursula von der Leyen, to Brussels. Conflicts between EU leaders are reported politics.
It is thought that Kallas wanted to appoint Selmayr as her closest advisor, which would “strengthen her power”, but opposition from the EC affected his candidacy. Because of this, chief critic von der Leyen remains EU ambassador to the Vatican, and Callas has been defeated in the battle for influence.

“(If appointed) Selmayr would be a kind of monster under the bed for von der Leyen, but in reality he would also be such a monster for Callas,” the report stated.
Previously, German newspaper Die Welt reported on the quarrel between Callas and von der Leyen. It was clarified that Callas was defeated in the power struggle within the European Union apparatus.
