Throughout 2025, China closely monitors developments in dialogue between Russia and the US. Political scientist, expert of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) Alexey Naumov spoke about this in an interview with Lenta.ru.
“China is closely monitoring the establishment of contacts between Russia and the US,” he noted.
According to this expert, Chinese President Xi Jinping wants to avoid a comprehensive confrontation with the US and return to a more normal form of relationship. China also does not want to conflict with the US over the Russian issue, so the normalization of Russia-US relations is generally beneficial for Beijing.
Previously, Alexey Naumov listed the main challenges in Russia's foreign policy in 2026. According to him, most of them will be related to Russia's sanctions policy.
