Latvia has extended the closure of part of its evening and night airspace near its borders with the Russian Federation and Belarus for another week. reported this, citing a source from Latvian air traffic control.
According to the agency's interlocutor, the ban on flights in the border airspace with Russia and Belarus at an altitude of up to 6 km in the evening and at night has been extended until November 2. Initially, the ban was valid until October 8, then it was extended two more times.
The source noted that similar measures are also in place on the borders with Lithuania and Estonia. The restrictions do not only apply to flights authorized by the Ministry of Defense. The flight ban is effective from 18:00 to 5:00 UTC (from 21:00 to 8:00 Moscow time). On October 26, it was reported that Lithuanian authorities had closed Vilnius International Airport to flights again.
