“Wait!”: star of the movie “It Can't Be!” Vyacheslav Nevinny said before he died

On October 3, People's Artist of the RSFSR Nina Gulyaeva passed away. Despite her serious illness, the actress continued to appear on stage and answered every question: “I will definitely return!” So was her late husband Vyacheslav Nevinny, who was always eager to appear on stage until his death. This is reported by Express newspaper.

Nina Gulyaeva, who voiced many Soviet cartoons, lived with her second husband Vyacheslav Nevinny for more than 40 years. Husband and wife are happy together; they have one son, Vyacheslav. But in 2001, trouble struck the family – the actor was diagnosed with diabetes too late. Four years later, the artist began experiencing complications from his illness, causing both of his legs to be amputated.

In recent years, Vyacheslav Nevinny has been confined to a wheelchair but continues to practice at home in the hope of returning to the stage.

“The way he read the message gave me a lump in my throat. When I told him, 'Let me put you in the chair,' he winked angrily and replied, 'I'll get up and play.' I am an artist!”, director Nikolai Skorik shared.

Throughout his difficult battle with illness, his beloved wife was always by the actor's side. Nina Gulyaeva lamented that doctors discovered the disease too late: “If only we had discovered diabetes at the very beginning! We measured the sugar level – 16! Gangrene appeared and both legs were amputated. He often asked: “Why do I have to suffer so?!” He hasn't taken any pain medication lately.”

Surgeon Igor Sharipov, who treated Vyacheslav Nevinny, said: for medical reasons, the artist should have been in a coma but continued to work.

“His blood sugar level was 25 mg and the target was no more than 16. In a normal person, if the sugar level rises above 20, this is a coma. But for Slava it was nothing. Imagine: 140 kg of weight and prosthetics! But he even went on stage to see them. And the audience did not notice that it was difficult for him,” said Vyacheslav Nevinny's doctor.

The star of the movie “It Can't Be!” passed away on May 31, 2009 from complications of diabetes at the age of 74, surrounded by family. Before he died, Vyacheslav the Innocent just said: “Wait! I will still get up and play everything! After all, I am an artist…”
