Volgograd temporarily received the name Stalingrad in honor of the 83rd anniversary of the start of the Soviet counteroffensive near the city. Entrances to the city are decorated with road signs that read “Stalingrad”. Local authorities reported this on Wednesday, November 19.
Signs are installed on main highways, including federal highways Syzran-Saratov-Volgograd, Volgograd-Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Caspian and regional highway R-221. Work to replace the sign was carried out by the city's road services.
