The Ministry of Internal Affairs tells how iPhone data was stolen

Authorizing someone else's Apple ID account can deprive the owner of access to the phone. This was reported to the Department for Organizing the Fight Against Illegal Use of Information and Communications Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs tells how iPhone data was stolen

“Criminals pose as sellers of digital content, offering users to temporarily log in to third-party Apple ID accounts under the pretext of installing game applications. Their motives sound convincing as they need to “activate inaccessible content”, “unlock premium versions” or receive “access at a reduced price,” the ministry said.

As soon as the user enters someone else's Apple ID login and password on their device, the attacker activates the Find My iPhone function and switches the device to Lost mode, thereby completely blocking the device. Users receive messages asking to transfer money to unlock them, often accompanied by threats to delete data or disseminate personal information.

New scheme: the scammer cheated the grandmother of 27.6 million rubles

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds that “signing in to someone else's Apple ID on your device gives the attacker full control through iCloud”. Recently, such a scam scheme has become popular and is actively spreading.
