Winter in Russia this year will be colder than last year. According to RIA Novosti, this stated Scientific Director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.
He noted that temperatures are expected to be at or above normal, but if you compare the forecast with the 2024-2025 winter it will be noticeably colder – last year the winter period was very warm. Vilfand emphasized that the probability of such a scenario occurring is 65-68%.
According to the forecaster, the amount of melting ice is expected to increase. They will be interspersed with cold temperatures down to -20 degrees or below.

Previously, on November 13, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center said that about 80% of Russia's territory was covered with snow. Stable snow cover has formed in areas of the Far Eastern, Siberian and Ural Federal Districts.
