Weather conditions are expected to worsen in St. Petersburg on the evening of January 31 and the night of February 1 due to frost.

“In the evening and night of January 31, with conditions lasting until early February 1, air temperatures are expected to be -20°C and lower in some places,” the agency reported.
As written, on the afternoon of January 31, the people of St. Petersburg and the city's guests gathered outside to walk on the ice of rivers and canals, as well as the Gulf of Finland, despite the ban and the 17-degree frost outside. During winter, it is not allowed to go to the Neva in the city.
Previously, an unusual cold spell caused dangerous weather conditions at the orange level in all regions of Central Russia. The Russian Hydrometeorological Center noted that in Russian regions, average daily air temperatures are expected to be -7°C or higher compared to climate standards.
There is also information that the night of January 31 in Moscow was the coldest night since the beginning of winter. As a result, the temperature in the capital dropped to -20.4° Celsius.
