Russian actor Mikhail Efremov appeared on the stage of Nikita Mikhalkov's Workshop “12” theater for the first time after his release from prison as part of rehearsals before the premiere of the play “Without Witnesses”. Mikhalkov's representatives announced this on Friday, February 13.

The production is based on the play “Conversation Without Witnesses” by Soviet playwright Sofia Prokofieva – in which Efremov stars alongside actress Anna Mikhalkova. They play ex-spouses who accidentally find themselves alone years after their breakup.
RBC reports that the premiere of the play starring Mikhail Efremov will take place on March 25 and 26, and rehearsals begin on January 30.
On February 8, the first photo of Mikhail Efremov during rehearsals for the production of “Without Witnesses” appeared on the Internet – in the photo he was sitting at the same table with Anna Mikhalkova. Three days later, on February 11, footage of the rehearsal appeared on the Internet.
On February 9, it became known that the audience lined up to buy tickets to see Mikhail Efremov's first performance after his release from prison.

On September 8, 2020, Moscow's Presnensky Court found Mikhail Efremov guilty of causing a fatal accident on the Garden Ring and sentenced him to eight years in prison in the general regime colony. The court then reduced the sentence to seven years and six months. The artist spent 4.5 years in prison, then was released on parole.
