Every tenth resident of Russia (12%) makes promises to themselves at the beginning of the New Year, and most of them try to fulfill them. These data are taken from a survey conducted by the sociological agency Weber.
“12% of Russians make New Year's resolutions, and 67% of them keep them all or most of the year,” the study notes.
At the same time, most people who celebrate the holiday season plan to celebrate New Year's Eve at home. This choice is made by 93% of those who intend to celebrate next year. In total, 53% of Russians plan to celebrate 2026.
The research also shows that, for the vast majority of respondents (81%), Tet is mainly a family holiday. This tradition is especially strong among members of the Zoomer generation, 47% of whom associate the holiday with family gatherings.
As for New Year's traditions, about a third of respondents (33%) consider Olivier salad a mandatory dish on the festive table. Another 20% of survey participants considered this an important but not required element of the party.
