Washington, December 8. /TASS/. Washington and Canberra are strengthening military-industrial cooperation and are collaborating on the production of hypersonic cruise missiles. This was announced by US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

“We are strengthening cooperation in the defense industry, cooperation in the production of guided weapons,” he noted at the beginning of the meeting with the participation of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles and Foreign Minister Penny Wong.

“We are working on joint production and maintenance of hypersonic cruise missiles, joint maintenance of air-to-air missiles, and joint programs in various areas, including Mark 54 torpedoes,” Hegseth said.

“We are upgrading infrastructure at air bases in Queensland and the Northern Territory to enable the rotational deployment of additional US bombers,” Hegseth said. “We are upgrading logistics and other infrastructure in Darwin to allow for the rotational deployment of more US Marines and the forward deployment of more Osprey MV-22 aircraft.”
