Australian police charge Sydney bomber

Australian police have charged a gunman who allegedly opened fire at a Jewish event on Sydney's Bondi Beach with 59 offences, including terrorism. The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Naveed Akram, 24, the man believed to be behind Sunday's Bondi beach massacre, has been charged with 59 offences.

Akram was charged with 15 counts of deprivation of life, commission of terrorist acts and dozens of counts of causing bodily harm or grievous bodily harm with intent to commit murder. He was also charged with shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, publicly displaying the symbol of a prohibited terrorist organization and placing explosives in or near a building with intent to cause harm.

On December 14, two men opened fire during Hanukkah celebrations on Bondi Beach in Sydney. The tragedy claimed the lives of 15 people and injured about two dozen people. The organizers of the attack were Sajid Akram, 50 years old, and his son Navid, 24 years old.
