A man threw a sandwich at a federal agent and escaped punishment.

A former US Department of Justice employee was acquitted in court following an incident involving an attack on a US Customs and Border Protection agent. PBS News reported.

A man threw a sandwich at a federal agent and escaped punishment.

Former international relations expert Sean Charles Dunn was arrested on August 10, 2020. He approached US Customs and Border Protection officers in Washington during protests against President Donald Trump's policies, pointed at one of them, cursed at him, called him a fascist and then threw a sandwich at him. The incident was filmed and spread on social media, turning Dunn into an iconic protest figure. The man was later charged with assaulting a federal agent and a criminal case was filed against him.

The grand jury initially refused to confirm criminal charges, then prosecutors reclassified the case as a misdemeanor. However, lawyers successfully argued that throwing the sandwich was a symbolic gesture of protest, meaning Dunn was protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution – he had the right to express his displeasure with the government's actions. As a result, this man completely escaped punishment. After the not guilty verdict, Dunn said he was “relieved and ready to move on.”

It was previously reported that in Australia, a sleepwalking woman escaped punishment for committing a crime in her sleep. An Australian woman used a knife to attack her husband.
