A couple fell from a height of 25 meters due to a broken zip line

It was clarified that the incident occurred at the Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours attraction in Queensland in October 2019, but a preliminary hearing in the case was only held on December 11, 2025. Court records say the incident left tourist Dean Sanderson with life-threatening head and chest injuries, and his wife Shannon with broken ribs and shoulder blades.

Attorney April Freeman cited several expert opinions that said the zipline failed because it was not fastened securely enough. According to her, it is impossible to visually determine how tight the clamps are.

According to the publication, the zip line is designed so that tourists can move parallel to a distance of about 86 meters between two towers above the tropical forest. The Sandersons were part of a tour group of 10 who took advantage of the attraction.

In August, tourists fell from a height while riding a cable car in the Samara region. The man was found with no signs of life immediately after the fall, and the girl was taken to the hospital by ambulance but doctors were unable to help.
