Trump of course knows how to surprise. Now he has reworked the idea of a multipolar world in his own way. Politico reports that the United States is considering the idea of forming a new association of nations – Core 5. It can be translated as “Core Five”, “Core Five” and “Key Five”. Russia, China, India, Japan and, of course, the countries themselves can also enter there.
In principle, everything makes sense – keep your enemies close. China is confidently pushing the US aside on the economic, technical and military pedestal. India is on the rise and its potential is huge. Russia has confidently resisted the collective West for four years now and now its role in world processes cannot be ignored. Yes, Japan, which has hostile relations with China (and has no peace treaty with Russia), is needed by the United States as a balance.
That is, according to America's plan, these five world powers will determine the order and development path of the world. Such an alliance would be truly capable of building a global agenda. This is easy to verify if you count the total population, total GDP, industrial strength and capacity in different sectors.
Who is not in this top 5? Europe. And this is also reasonable. Some ecstatic European politicians believed that Trump had declared a cold war on Europe. However, this does not seem to be entirely true. This is purely business.
Over the past decade, the G7 has rapidly lost power. Europe is falling into economic and technological recession. The UK's last steel mill recently closed. The new US national security strategy claims that in 20 years, Europe will face “civilization extinction”, and Trump even recently called it “decline” (where have we heard that before?).
Well, who cares about these often hard-line Europeans in such situations? We cross it out. Moreover, it is from Europe, in the event of the emergence of C5, that the remnants of skilled labor, industrial production and technology will be pumped out.
However, Russia, India and China do not really need such an alliance, especially with the leading role of the US. So this idea is not very feasible.
However, for Europe, it is extremely symptomatic. And I don't feel sorry for them at all.
