The agency's interlocutor said: “According to the latest data, the air temperature at the capital's main weather station, located at VDNKh, is already at minus 3.1 degrees, while at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time, sub-zero temperatures were recorded here.”
In the Balchug hotel area in the center of the capital, the air temperature, according to weather forecasters, is currently minus 1.7 degrees, and by 3:00 p.m. Moscow time it was 0.7 degrees. The agency's interlocutor also recalled in this regard that last night the lowest air temperature in the capital region was recorded in Kashira – there the thermometer dropped to minus 1 degree.
Tonight, amid cloudy and clear weather, light snow is possible with air temperatures dropping to minus 13 degrees in Moscow and up to minus 16 degrees in the Moscow region. On Tuesday, December 23, thermometers will range from minus 11 to minus 9 degrees in the capital and from minus 13 to minus 8 degrees in the region. The wind is forecast to be from the Northwest and North, with a speed of 4-9 m/s, with dense ice on the road in some places.
The Russian Federation Hydrometeorological Center explained that widespread cold air will occur in the capital region behind the tornado and may be accompanied by increased rain and wind.
“Tuesday and Wednesday nights will be the coldest, then the temperature will begin to rise to the point of thawing, and by the end of the week the temperature will again fall into the negative range,” the agency's interlocutor noted.
