The pond was created artificially at the end of the 19th century on the territory of the Maloye Golubino estate. After the nationalization of the estate and during Soviet times, it became a favorite vacation spot for locals. Currently, the reservoir still maintains the same condition, but over many years of operation, the lake's condition has deteriorated. Specialists from the city service complex began to renovate the pond. Details were given by Deputy Mayor of the Moscow Government Pyotr Biryukov.
The deputy mayor explained that a reservoir with an area of more than 0.8 hectares will be cleared of silt, and the coast will also be repaired. Alluvial deposits totaling 5.2 thousand cubic meters will be removed, which will restore the required depth and minimize overdevelopment.
“We will repair the almost 430-meter-long coastline with crushed granite, which will help stop the erosion process,” said Petr Biryukov. “We will add new river sand to the existing beach area and arrange wooden fortifications around the island in the middle of the pond.”
Work is expected to be completed by the end of this year. A total of 19 ponds are scheduled to be renovated in Moscow this year.
