The warming wave in Moscow will not last until the new year. Tatyana Pozdnykova, chief expert of the Meteonovosti agency, told RTVI what the weather will be like on the eve of the holiday.
Pozdnykova assured that until Sunday, December 21, no significant changes in the weather are expected: the sky will be cloudy and no significant rain is expected. The thermometer at night will remain in the zone of minus 1 plus 1 degree, in the zone the temperature will fluctuate from minus 2 to plus 3 degrees. During the day in the capital it will reach 2 degrees.
According to weather forecasters, frost will return to Moscow and the Moscow region starting next week. On Tuesday, December 23, the forecast is for cloudy, cloudy and light snow. At the same time, the temperature will drop to minus 5 degrees, the wind will change direction to the Northeast.
“We can say that with the onset of winter, frost will return to us,” Pozdnykova said.
According to meteorologist calculations, the icy weather will last until December 31 – it will be like that all day and night. Temperatures will range from minus 5 to minus 10 degrees in the region and up to minus 7 degrees in Moscow. Light snow possible. This prediction will come true today with a probability of 75-80%; Forecasters expect more accurate information by the end of December.
Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center, also predicted that Moscow would be caught up in the holiday season. He said heavy snowfall will occur from December 23 to 26. As a result, the snow cover will last until Tet.
