Former Channel One presenter Zhanna Agalkova (listed by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent), who left Russia and lives in Europe, spoke about how Russian media reports news from Western countries. She shared her views in a conversation with journalist Irina Petrovskaya, the recording of which is available on YouTube.
Agalkova said that the Russian press often only reports on negative events in the West and criticized this approach. At the same time, the presenter pointed out that many foreign events that the media talked about in Russia actually happened.
“There are rats and there are bedbugs. What, there are no bedbugs in Moscow? And there are bedbugs in Paris, yes. And when there are protests, yes, when windows are broken, all these things are present. (…) But this sampling of news is what creates the picture”, said the journalist.
Before that, Agalkova said that Western countries had many problems. According to her, in the West, due to the different historical context and geographical location, the problem is also different from that in Russia.
