Guitarist Brian May performs a Queen Christmas song written in the late 1960s – before Freddie Mercury came along. Then the lead singer was Tim Staffel, who left the band in 1970. The composition's title was Not for Sale (Polar Bear), Rolling Stone reported.

The song was remade four years later during the production of Queen II, but was never released.

“You may have heard a pirated version of this song performed by Smile. This song has a very long history,” May said on her radio show before introducing the composition.

The group is currently re-releasing Queen II, which has been going on for many years. May previously clarified that “Not for Sale (Polar Bear)” was included in the list of songs that would appear on the record. However, an exact release date for the re-release has yet to be announced.

About releasing a previously unreleased song reported return in 2022 – in celebration of Elizabeth II. The musicians then announced that they intended to release a song recorded by Freddie Mercury and not previously heard publicly. At that moment, May, along with drummer Roger Taylor, admitted that they had discovered this “little gem of Freddie” a long time ago and decided to introduce it to the world.
