Lawyer Vadim Bagaturia evaluates the likelihood of an arrest in absentia of the former host of the program “Fashion Verdict” and fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev. The lawyer was quoted by NEWS.ru.
According to Bagaturia, a legal entity will face arrest in absentia if losses due to the company's failure to pay taxes exceed 18.75 million rubles.
“There is no criminal liability for non-payment of taxes on such an amount. To give rise to criminal liability, it is necessary that non-payment of taxes is on a large scale and the amount of taxes, fees, insurance premiums exceeds 18,750,000 rubles for a period of three consecutive fiscal years,” he explained.
Currently Alexander Vasiliev lives in France. The TV presenter has French and Lithuanian citizenship.
