New year, a new era begins in compulsory traffic insurance. Changes made in the insurance system will be especially effective in car sales.
A new era begins with mandatory traffic insurance that is of interest to millions of vehicle owners.
Accordingly, a person will not be able to benefit from a no-claims discount on the second car he purchases. He will enter the insurance system from the entry level. The discount will be reflected in the second year if he sells his old car.
Even if at-fault drivers buy a second car, then sell the old car and reduce their damage-free status to average, they will pay higher insurance premiums than risky drivers in the following year.
Insurance expert Noyan Doğan commented on this change: “Until now, the driver who made mistakes was rewarded by the system. He took advantage of this gap in the system and paid very low insurance premiums. From now on, there will be fairness between the driver who made mistakes and the perfect driver. People will not be able to apply other methods to pay cheaper insurance premiums.”
LIMITED NUMBER OF REGISTERED VEHICLES
In the new traffic insurance regulations, there is also a limit on the number of vehicles registered per person.
Noyan Doğan noted: “Everyone buys traffic insurance as an individual and uses it for commercial purposes. After January 1, 2026, this changes as follows. If you are an individual, you can get traffic insurance for up to 5 vehicles. After 5 vehicles, the 6th and 7th vehicles have now become legal entities and will automatically pay higher traffic insurance premiums.”
Those who renew their insurance policy before it expires will not be entitled to the no-claims discount for the following year in the event of an accident that may occur during the interim period.
