The severe drop in passenger numbers occurred due to Montenegro suspending the liberalization of the visa regime for Turkish citizens.
Following the events in Montenegro, Turkish citizens will start having to apply for a visa as of October 30. Turkish citizens who previously visited Montenegro with a Turkish passport will be able to apply for a visa through the Montenegrin Embassy in Ankara or the Consulate General in Istanbul, according to the decision that has been made. Due to visa requirements, the number of passengers on flights to this country has begun to seriously decrease.
