The number of young people in the world who do not go to school, do not go to school, stay at home and cannot participate in social life is increasing. The government is looking for solutions for the country's youth
WHAT IS YOUTH AT HOME?
In English, the concept “NEET” (Not in education, employment or training), meaning “neither in education, nor employment, nor training”, is translated as “hometown youth” in our language. These young people want to participate in work or study life, but the obstacles in front of them are the main reason why they are stuck at home because they do not know how to move forward.
Unemployment is the reason why you have to stay at home as a teenager. Young people cannot find jobs, and even when they do find jobs, this leads to them not being able to continue because of reasons such as being forced and their expectations not being met.
It is thought that there are more than 4 million young people back home in Türkiye. According to data from the Turkish Institute of Statistics, the rate of young people neither going to school nor having a job reached 22.9%.
PSYCHOLOGICAL COLLAPSE
The fact that these young people do not leave home and increasingly lose their sociality causes them to face many psychological problems and social discord.
Many mental illnesses such as depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, addiction to games, the internet and gambling can be found more often in people who cannot take responsibility and have a sensitive personality, and this paves the way for the problem to become deeper.
HOMEOWNER'S COST TO THE STATE
Hometown youth cause economic damage to the country. The exclusion of millions of young people from productive activities means a possible loss of GDP for the country's economy. Young people who stay at home can follow different paths by working short-term jobs in unregistered criminal jobs. This creates a security hole.
THE DIFFERENCE OF A YOUNG AND UNEMPLOYED FAMILY
The idle labor force is a broader measure that includes, in addition to the officially unemployed, people who are willing to work but are not looking for work because they have lost hope, and “underemployed” people who work part-time while looking for a full-time job.
SOLUTIONS ARE MANUFACTURED AROUND THE WORLD AND IN Türkiye
The youth problem has become a situation that governments around the world regularly try to guard against. Within the scope of the “Youth Guarantee” programme, EU countries aim to ensure that every young person receives a job offer, internship, apprenticeship or quality further education opportunity within four months of finishing school or becoming unemployed.
In Korea, it supports entrepreneurship against unemployment among educated young people. On the other hand, Germany is taking actions in the educational process to prevent this situation from happening. The “Dual Education” model is implemented, in which students receive theoretical education at school while also receiving practical training, i.e. vocational training at the workplace.
In Türkiye, support is provided in working life by providing supports such as entrepreneurship and insurance. It is planned to provide guidance on a one-to-one basis through social business consulting, home-based youth programs, and an active workforce.
