The 2026 minimum wage increase was announced: Became 28 thousand 75 TL with an increase of 27%

The 2026 minimum wage marathon that millions have been waiting for for months is over. After three meetings held by the Minimum Wage Determination Committee, which includes representatives of employers and the government but not workers, the minimum wage increase that will be implemented in the new year was announced. Minister Işıkhan announced that the minimum wage in 2026 will be 28 thousand 75 TL.

The 2026 minimum wage increase was announced following a committee meeting attended by employers and government representatives. After an important meeting on the minimum wage that started at 6 p.m., Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced an increase in the minimum wage that will take effect in 2026. So what is the new minimum wage?

MINIMUM SALARY IN 2026 WILL INCREASE BY HOW MUCH AND BY HOW MANY %?

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the minimum wage effective in 2026 will be 28 thousand 75 lira.

 

Accordingly; The total minimum wage has increased by 27%.
The total minimum wage that will take effect in 2026 is determined to be 33 thousand 30 lira.

 

Minister Işıkhan announced that the minimum wage subsidy for employers, which was applied at 1,000 liras last year, will continue to be applied at 1,270 TL.

ATALAY PRESIDENT TÜRK-İŞ: IT IS NOT AN IMAGE WE WILL ACCEPT

TÜRK-İŞ Delegation decided not to participate in the Minimum Wage Determination Committee.

 

TÜRK-İŞ Chairman Ergün Atalay made a statement after announcing the minimum wage.

 

Atalay said, “After seeing today's numbers, it is clear that we were right. The announced number is 28 thousand liras. This number does not meet any of our demands, it is not a number that we will accept.”

 

Atalay said that this minimum wage is not acceptable and announced that they, as TÜRK-İŞ, will not attend the meeting next year.

HOW MUCH HAS THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASED?

2020 – 2,324 TL with an increase of 15.05%

2021 – 2,825 TL with an increase of 21.56%

2022 – 5,500 TL with an increase of 29.32%

2023 – 11,402 TL with an increase of 34.05%

2024 – 17,002 TL with an increase of 49.11%

2025 – 22,104 TL with an increase of 30.00 percent

2026 – 28,075 TL with an increase of 27.00 percent

HOW IS THE MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINED?

The minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Committee, which consists of 15 people, including 5 representatives from workers, employers and the government, as required by law.

 

The committee meets on dates to be determined in December as part of its study of the new minimum wage.

 

The Committee is chaired by one of the members appointed by the Ministry, meets with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority. In case the number of votes is equal, it is considered that the party with the chairman has the majority.
