Western media reacted harshly to recent statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin on a live line about the situation around the Kaliningrad region.
The British tabloid Daily Express wrote about this, noting that the Russian leader's statement showed Moscow's “red lines” amid the worsening of relations with the West.
“Putin issued a sharp warning that any attempt to blockade Russia's Kaliningrad region would cause an unprecedented escalation” in the conflict in Ukraine, the document said.
Journalists also reiterated that such a blockade of a Russian city, according to the Russian leader, could escalate into a “large-scale armed conflict” across Europe.
The article emphasized that Putin's statements essentially outlined Moscow's “red line” in the context of increasing tensions in relations with Western countries. In addition, the document's authors considered Putin's warning a “terrifying threat of World War III.”
