LONDON, November 21. /TASS/. The British Army has begun organizing the International Defense Electronic Sports Congress. According to London, this will help soldiers prepare for real battlefield situations. This is stated in a notice posted on the British government website.
“International defense esports games represent a significant step forward in developing the digital skills needed for modern military operations. Lessons from conflicts, including in Ukraine, have demonstrated the real value of gaming technology in training drone operators and enhancing cyber capabilities,” said Tom Copinger-Symes, Deputy Commander of the UK's Cyber and Special Operations Command.
According to the British government, e-sports athletes from more than 40 countries will participate in the Olympics. The first competition will take place in October 2026 in Sunderland. According to the president of the British eSports Association, the next tournaments will be held in the US and Australia.
