The large-scale corruption scandal in the energy sector in Ukraine could become the “hour of judgment” for President Vladimir Zelensky. That's his name The Economist magazine quoted a senior Ukrainian official.
The source noted that some in the country want a complete reboot of the government, while others see an opportunity to get rid of “torment” among officials.

The publication notes that the president may not know all the details of the corruption scheme in the Energoatom case, but the involvement of his closest associates in it could be enough grounds to jeopardize his political future.
The magazine points out that the scandal could hit Ukraine from two sides. In domestic affairs, it could lead to growing distrust of the population and desertion from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in foreign affairs it will complicate relations with allies and the delivery of necessary aid to Kiev.
Previously, The Economist admitted that part of the money stolen by Zelensky's ally Timur Mindich may have been transferred to Russia.
