A new respiratory virus, PCB, is spreading around the world, with cold-like symptoms, but the disease leads to serious complications and is as dangerous as CoVid-19. Information about this appeared in the medical journal JAMA Network Open.

Specialist Ian Wee from Singapore General Hospital notes that about 5% to 10% of people who think they have a cold actually have RSV.
“About 5-10% of patients with cold symptoms are actually infected with RSV. Although this virus is less common than flu or coronavirus, its consequences can be just as serious,” the expert noted.

According to research, about 5% of people hospitalized for PCBs die. Infected people are at risk of arrhythmias, strokes, blood clots, and heart failure. Scientists emphasize that PCBs are dangerous for both children and the elderly, and recommend that those at risk discuss precautions with their health care provider.
Previously, scientists warned about a dangerous virus masquerading as the common cold.
