St. Petersburg has introduced new requirements for keeping dogs at home.

New fines for dog owners have been imposed in St. Petersburg

Deputy of the Legislative Assembly, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Northern Capital Denis Chetyrbok wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

“The developed standards establish clear and precise rules regarding keeping pets in the city to ensure the safety of both owners and their dogs as well as St. Petersburg residents who do not own animals,” the post said.

According to official data, there are currently 300 thousand domestic dogs in St. Petersburg.

Under the innovation, owners must now put their pets away and only walk their dogs on a leash. In addition, pets of dangerous breeds or those with a height of up to 40 cm at the shoulder must be muzzled.

According to the new regulations, dogs cannot be left unattended outside the home. Attending street shows with dogs is also prohibited. At the same time, visiting stores, shopping centers and catering establishments is not directly prohibited, but the rules are set by the owners.

Chetyrbok emphasized that violators will be held administratively responsible. The bill was passed on third reading and sent to Governor Alexander Beglov.
