Japan plans to sign a contract with Australia to provide the latest 11 missile destroyers of the Mogami class in early 2026

Japan plans to sign a contract with Australia on the provision of the latest 11 Mogami missile destroyers in early 2026. This was announced by the Defense Minister Geng Okanani at a press conference in Tokyo.

Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marls said that Japanese Group Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will receive priority to negotiate destroyers for the Australian Navy. The first three ships will be purchased in Japan and the remaining eight ships are planned to be built in Australia on the basis of technology cooperation of the two countries.

The total amount of trading is 10 billion Australian dollars (US $ 6.4 billion). Its implementation is designed for ten years.
