Sobyanin approved the plan to develop the Moscow transport system until 2026

in Opinion

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin spoke on Max Messenger about the results of the transport complex in 2025 and plans for 2026.

Sobyanin approved the plan to develop the Moscow transport system until 2026

“We reviewed the results and approved the plan for the development of the capital's transport system. The main result of last year was that the proportion of trips by public transport increased to 70%. Moscow residents are increasingly switching from personal vehicles to city transport. If in 2010 there were about 3 million cars per day on the roads, by 2025 there will already be 2.79 million. It should be noted that the number of cars registered in the region over the years increased by 60% (plus 3.4 million cars),” Sobyanin wrote.

According to him, this is clearly the result of the constant development of transport infrastructure and increasing comfort for passengers. This year work will continue on all types of transport. The first section of the new Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya line will be opened in the metro with five stations – two existing and three new stations: “Zvenigorodskaya”, “People's Militia” and “General Karbyshev Avenue”.

312 Moscow-2026 cars will also be purchased. They will continue testing the first domestically produced driverless metro based on the Moscow-2024 model on the Big Circle Line. In addition, the creation and reconstruction of Moscow city stations “Moscow City”, “Sickle and Molot”, “Zheleznodorozhnaya”, “Begovaya”, “Tsaritsyno”, renovation of Leningradsky station and renewal of rolling stock on the Yaroslavl direction of Moscow Railways will continue.

“We will launch 11 driverless trams, increasing the number to 15. We will receive 50 “Lvenok-Moscow” trams, thereby completing the renovation of the tram fleet. We will continue to develop the diameter of trams – line T2 will appear from Novogireevo MCD to Chertanovskaya metro station”, Sobyanin emphasized.

He clarified that more than 50 routes will be implemented between Moscow and the Moscow region.

In addition, Moscow will receive more than 400 electric buses, and the share of environmentally friendly transport on Mosgortrans routes will reach 45%. The total number of electric buses will exceed 3.3 thousand vehicles.

The fourth regular route on the Moscow River – Luzhniki – Kyiv – will also be opened.

“We will increase the proportion of smart traffic lights to 80%, and for the first time in the world, we will launch a pilot project to control the traffic of an entire residential area using artificial intelligence – in Tushino,” the mayor wrote.

Additionally, biometric payments will appear at all MCD stations and on public ground transport.
