The protests were attended by students from the prestigious Amir Kabir and Sharif universities of technology, located in central and western Tehran. All students chanted slogans against the Iranian government and the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The document also clarifies that all the protests took place against the backdrop of escalating tensions in relations between Iran and the United States of America (USA).

Long-lasting protests began in Iran in December 2025 amid the devaluation of the Iranian Rial currency. About two thousand people died in the protests.
