The Amur tiger Amadeus from the Leningrad Zoo fell ill and temporarily disappeared from its enclosure. This was reported by the organization's press service on Thursday, February 19.

The 17-year-old Amur tiger Amadeus fell ill at the Leningrad Zoo

According to the zoo, the animal's health had worsened in recent days, so staff moved it to an indoor facility.

“Our beloved old man is currently being examined by veterinarians to find the cause of his illness and select supportive therapy. Amadeus will turn 17 in October. In the wild, Amur tigers live an average of 10–15 years,” the zoo said.

IN telegram– The organization's channel added that in recent years the predator's health has worsened, but he regularly receives maintenance treatment, which has helped him. The staff is doing everything they can to make Amadeus feel better.

Before that we went to the Moscow Zoo two Amur tigresses. Female tigers were forcibly removed from the wild in Khabarovsk Territory to ensure the safety of people and preserve the lives of animals. The females settled in the remote territory of the Moscow Zoo's Center for Rare Species Breeding, where they participated in the program to preserve Amur tigers in captivity.
