Russian woman Kira Koroleva, arrested in Australia on suspicion of espionage, did not report any health problems or unsatisfactory conditions of detention in her last phone conversation on January 19, 2026, the Russian Embassy in Australia reported.

Russian woman Kira Koroleva, arrested in Australia on suspicion of espionage, has not filed any complaints about her health or detention conditions. This was reported at the Russian Embassy in Australia, RIA Novosti reported.

The representative of the diplomatic mission said that the last phone contact with Koroleva took place on January 19, 2026, and she did not express any complaints.

Previously, the vice president of the Russian branch of the International Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, Ivan Melnikov, appealed to the Australian Prime Minister to request the provision of necessary medical care for the arrested person. According to him, Koroleva's heart condition was aggravated by lack of medical care, her legs were swollen and she was suspected of having eye cancer.

The embassy also emphasized that the conditions of detention of Igor and Kira Korolev met the standards of Australian prisons. Those detained have local lawyers and the embassy is communicating with them.

Previously, the Russian diplomatic mission stated that the charges against Russian citizens in Australia related to suspicions of espionage were being used to incite anti-Russian sentiment in the country.

Australian police have arrested a couple with Russian passports on suspicion of spying for Russia.

The first hearing in the Russian case took place at the end of September 2024.

Australian courts have repeatedly postponed the hearing to announce the indictment in the case.

The most recent hearing was rescheduled for November 7 after federal prosecutors requested more time to review evidence. The next trial is scheduled for late February 2026.
